Yew Coat Peg Board
Yew Coat Peg Board
Hand made in our wood workshop from our own home milled yew.
Coat pegs made from old salvaged wenge (an African hardwood)
86cm long by 27cm
It is extremely rare that we are offered a yew tree to mill into timber, and, consequently, the boards that we get are very special. Yew trees take such a long time to grow to a size that is possible to get joinery timber from, so every piece is precious.
This particular Yew tree grew near Llandeilo and had to be felled to enable the renovation of an old cottage. Most of the timber was used in the making of a staircase, within the cottage, along with some local ash.
This is a one-off piece, made with 5 pegs, approx 14cm appart. Each peg is 10cm long with a top diameter of 28mm, tapering into the board.
The board is not supplied with fixtures as the method of fitting will vary depending on where (and on to what material) it is destined to hang. If you would like us to pre-drill holes through the board and supply brass screws, please let us know.
