Woodland Cabin
Off grid, off mains, off road
Our little cabin in the woods is a warm, cosy space of calm, contemplation, nourishment, dreaming and just ‘being’.
Built from reclaimed windows, local timber and sheep’s wool insulation, the simple space is basic but feels gentle and inspiring. The little stove heats it up quickly and the 2 burner hob is just enough to cook a simple meal with a few delicious ingredients. The kitchen is equipped with basic tools, a couple of pans, plates, bowls etc.
The cabin has its own compost loo, a bucket shower for the brave and a wood fired outside bath for the romantic.
The cabin neatly fits a double bed, a drop leaf table and 2 armchairs. If you are interested in coming to stay, please get in touch to discuss dates - we have no online booking and like to keep visitors to a manageable number. We have a ballpark fee of £150 for 2 nights, but if you want to stay longer this can be negotiated.
There is no vehicular access to the cabin, which is situated a short walk (up hill) from the lane. The woodland borders an old bridle way, which will lead you on up into the hills. We do have a train station about 1.5 miles away, on the mid-wales line. It is possible to walk from there if you are brave enough to ford the river! Otherwise we can discuss collection from the station.
your own Low impact cabin…
If you would like to discuss plans for your own low impact cabin please do get in touch.
We will always use the most environmentally sensitive materials possible, with reclaimed components where appropriate.
We will design your cabin with you to suit the site as well as the intended use. When possible, we will then build most of the structure in the Carpenter and Cloth workshop before bringing it to site for completion.
